The MD8 air sampler is the one of the most advanced microbial and viable air samplers available and is manufactured by Sartorius. The MD8 air sampler utilizes a gelatin membrane filtration method that has an unrivaled 99.9% retention rate for airborne microorganisms and is the only method to reliably capture viruses. This method is available on two air samplers; the Airport MD8 portable microbial air sampler and the MD8 Airscan, which is a viable air sampler that’s suitable for clean rooms and isolators. These microbial and viable air samplers are competitively priced and offer distinct advantages. The gelatin membrane filter eliminates desiccation by protecting the captured microorganisms in its sponge-like filter made of 50% water. After sampling, the filter dissolves directly on an agar plate or is dissolved into a sterile solution and may be plated on several types of media.
